Description Ville Pätsi 2003-03-02 09:27:32 UTC
In 2.0 custom icons were twice as big as they are now in 2.2 on 100% zoom.
Picture thumbnails are still the same size, so I can't understand why
custom icons were shrinked.
Comment 1 Sebastien Bacher 2003-11-26 22:40:04 UTC
The custom icons seems to have the same size than others icons with
nautilus 2.4. Could you check to see if the problem is still here, and
if it's the case provide more details on the problem (a screenshot) ?

Nautilus custom icon incorrect size
Comment 3 Ville Pätsi 2003-11-26 23:40:16 UTC
That's 2.2. I'll have to recheck once I upgrade to 2.4.
Comment 4 Sebastien Bacher 2003-11-27 00:25:55 UTC
Ok, same behaviour in nautilus 2.4, but I'm not sure that's a bug, the
48x48 icon has the size of the others icons, seems to be right.

Anybody else with an advice on this ?
Comment 5 Alexander Larsson 2003-12-11 11:01:33 UTC
I don't see why custom icons should be a different size than normal icons.
Comment 6 Ville Pätsi 2003-12-11 14:10:29 UTC
Well they are smaller than normal icons (atleast with the icon theme I
use, Industrial). Not to mention the fact that image thumbnails are
still the same size they were in 2.0. In fact, custom icons are 1/4
the size of image thumbnails now, when they were the same size in 2.0.
Comment 7 Sebastien Bacher 2003-12-11 18:39:40 UTC
Here with nautilus 2.4.1 the custom icons have the same size than
standard icons with industrial theme ... it's weird. Could you provide
a screenshot of the problem ?

Icon size again
Comment 9 Ville Pätsi 2003-12-11 19:15:11 UTC
The folder icon in the screenshot is an svg icon, which probably
explains why it's bigger that 48x48.

Also note that the same size image's thumbnails are scaled to
different sizes depending on file size(?) apparently.

It's annoying that custom icon sizes are limited to such a small size,
when there are other icons (eg. thumbnails) that are bigger.
Comment 10 Sebastien Bacher 2003-12-11 20:24:22 UTC
The custom icon have the same size than default icons on this
screenshots ... seems to be the right behaviour (an icon is not a
thumbnail).
And yes the thumbnails are bigger thant icons, and have differents
size, but I don't know if it's a bug ...
Comment 11 Ville Pätsi 2003-12-11 21:26:45 UTC
No they aren't. The folder icon is about 60 pixels wide, while the
custom icons are 48.

A thumbnail is an icon when it's used as an icon.

I don't see any reasons to keep the custom icons limited to such a
small size, since there are other icons (or other things, like
thumbnails, used as icons) that are bigger.

I consider this a regression since it worked in the 2.0-series.

I'd still like to have my huge unthumbnailed icons back :(. Its easily fixable,
but still undecided.

What's up with this issue ? Anything new since 2004 ????

Can somebody confirm it is still here ?
Comment 15 Cosimo Cecchi 2011-02-25 20:43:12 UTC
I don't see how this would be a bug in the overall way nautilus handles icon sizes now.
