GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 107144
Pan 0.13.3.93 crashes 100% of the time on ONE ng
Last modified: 2006-06-18 05:22:47 UTC
Since the change(s) in the newsgroup a week or more ago I am having a problem accessing (only) spamcop.geeks I get all of the other groups just fine, and as always, only that one is a problem. I use RedHat 8.0 and read with Pan 0.13.3 Thinking that might have some bearing I upgraded to Pan 0.13.3.93 with no new joy. What happens is that I subscribe to the group, and it attempts to download the (new) messages and immediately crashes Pan during that process. No amount of changes in the number to download has any effect. 10 causes a crash as does 1000+ This isn't a problem with any of the other groups either in spamcop or my own news server news.saber.net where I get alt.spam / nanae / nanas just fine, so it isn't a volume thing, but a spamcop news server thing, I believe This hasn't been a problem up until your change(s) to the server and set up. I'm no newbie to RedHat nor Pan so that isn't an issue either. Please let me know if you have any ideas as to how to fix this, or if it provides any clues that you might need more info about, let me know. Ken -- In a world without walls and fences nobody needs Windows and Gates! He replied it "must be a bug in Pan, as he is using INN and no changes relevant part of runlog: Xref: news.spamcop.net spamcop.geeks:10089 ] ( sockets.c:242: pan_socket_getline)(thread 0x819e6f8)(time 11:42:56)(depth 4) TRACE: - pan_socket_getline ( sockets.c:202: pan_socket_getline)(thread 0x819e6f8)(time 11:42:56)(depth 5) TRACE: + pan_socket_getline ( sockets.c:239: pan_socket_getline)(thread 0x819e6f8)(time 11:42:56) SOCKET INPUT: socket [0x828ecc0] received [10090 <999_Characters_Total_Line_Length_000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000@example.com> Guy Macon <999-Characters-Total-Line-Length@example.A000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000A.com> Fri, 21 Feb 2003 12:04:57 -0800 <b360us$gfh$6@news.spamcop.net> <999_Characters_Total_Line_Length@example.com> <1@0.0> <2@0.0> <3@0.0> <4@0.0> <5@0.0> <6@0.0> <7@0.0> <8@0.0> <9@0.0> <0@1.0> <1@1.0> <2@1.0> <3@1.0> <4@1.0> <5@1.0> <6@1.0> <7@1.0> <8@1.0> <9@1.0> <0@0.0> <1@2.0> <2@2.0> <3@2.0> <4@2.0> <5@2.0> <6@2.0> <7@2.0> <8@2.0> <9@2.0> <0@0.0> <1@3.0> <2@3.0> <3@3.0> <4@3.0> <5@3.0> <6@3.0> <7@3.0> <8@3.0> <9@3.0> <0@0.0> <1@4.0> <2@4.0> <3@4.0> <4@4.0> <5@4.0> <6@4.0> <7@4.0> <8@4.0> <9@4.0> <0@0.0> <1@5.0> <2@5.0> <002@00.00> <3@5.0> <4@5.0> <5@5.0> <6@5.0> <7@5.0> <8@5.0> <9@5.0> <0@0.0> <1@6.0> <2@6.0> <3@6.0> <4@6.0> <5@6.0> <6@6.0> <7@6.0> <8@6.0> <9@6.0> <0@0.0> <1@7.0> <2@7.0> <3@7.0> <4@7.0> <5@7.0> <6@7.0> <7@7.0> <8@7.0> <9@7.0> <0@0.0> <1@8.0> <2@8.0> <3@8.0> <4@8.0> <5@8.0> <6@8.0> <7@8.0> <8@8.0> <9@8.0> <0@0.0> <1@9.0> <2@9.0> <3@9.0> <4@9.0> <5@9.0> <6@9.0> <7@9.0> <8@9.0> <9@9.0> <0@0.1> <1@0.1> <2@0.1> <3@0.1> <4@0.1> <5@0.1> <6@0.1> <7@0.1> <8@0.1> <9@0.1> <0@1.1> <1@1.1> <2@1.1> <3@1.1> <4@1.1> <5@1.1> <6@1.1> 6508 16 Xref: news.spamcop.net spamcop.geeks:10090 ] ( sockets.c:242: pan_socket_getline)(thread 0x819e6f8)(time 11:42:56)(depth 4) TRACE: - pan_socket_getline Segmentation fault [ken@ken ken]$ Backtrace: [ken@ken ken]$ script pan_backtrace Script started, file is pan_backtrace [ken@ken ken]$ uname -a Linux ken.home 2.4.18-24.8.0smp #1 SMP Fri Jan 31 07:12:12 EST 2003 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux [ken@ken ken]$ gdb pan GNU gdb Red Hat Linux (5.2.1-4) Copyright 2002 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
