Description omicron1685 2003-02-23 11:06:52 UTC
Package: gnome-terminal
Severity: critical
Version: 2.0.1
Synopsis: gnome-terminal crashes with segfault
Bugzilla-Product: gnome-terminal
Bugzilla-Component: general
BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.0.3)

Description:
Description of Problem:
The gnome-terminal wont run at all. When I try to start it, it segfauls
immediatly. I've rebooted and that hasn't solved the problem, so with
all my Linux experience I have no idea. I'm not even sure how this
problem arrived. The last thing I was doing was compiling GARNOME as a
normal user (NOT root), so I'm not sure how that could have affected
this. However, when I was compiling GARNOME, it looks like I might not
have switched to the meta/garnome-desktop/ directory before doing a
"make install", and instead doing it from the root of that folder, but
as a normal user I'm not sure if that did anything.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Have GARNOME compiling, CTRL+C to interrupt after about 2 hours, shut
down computer and go bed.
2. Wake up, boot up, log in.
3. Attempt to start gnome-terminal

Actual Results:
Segfaults immediatly, wont start.

Expected Results:
A nice shiny gnome-terminal popping up on screen, who I can get to know
and love, and cherish every minute of it's beautiful existance...

How often does this happen?
Every time, even after a total reboot.

Additional Information:
Haven't tried logging in as other user/root yet.
Running Red Hat 8.0, on Pentium 4 2.53GHz, 1024MB RAM, GeForce4 Ti4600.
I honestly have no idea what's caused this... :-\
