Description Egle K. 2003-02-18 20:10:53 UTC
I set Preferences->Location->Lithuania->Vilnius. Tooltip shows Vilnius, but
in preferences, location automatically switches to Latvia->Riga and
temperature is displayed the same as in Riga. Latvia and Lithuania are
neighbour countries, but it is a bug that Vilnius can't be chosen.

Besides, how to add another location? I'm interested in adding Kaunas in
Lithuania.
Comment 1 Alexander Kirillov 2003-02-24 22:26:27 UTC
I can confirm this bug. The culprit are these lines in Locations file:
[EU_LV]
name=Latvia
loc0=Riga EVRA ------ ---

[EU_LT]
name=Lithuania
loc0=Vilnius EVRA ------ ---

which give for Vilnius the same code as for Riga. If I understand
correctly, the correct code for Riga is indeed EVRA, but the correct
code for Vilnius is EYVI. The fix is trivial - if the maintainers do
not mind, I can fix it in CVS.
Comment 2 Kevin Vandersloot 2003-02-25 19:20:49 UTC
Alexander: yah, you can commit that small change (make sure to add a
ChangeLog entry)

To add a country, you would have to modify the Locations file. If you
can find the 4 digit code for Kaunas, we can add it to the next
gnome-applets release.
Comment 3 Kevin Vandersloot 2003-03-05 02:38:28 UTC
Fixed in cvs. Thanks Alexander!
Comment 4 Egle K. 2003-04-04 21:52:57 UTC
Please add this line in gweather to Lithuania:

loc1=Kaunas EYKA ------ ---

Btw, I should reopen this bug or not ?
Comment 5 Kevin Vandersloot 2003-04-05 16:57:05 UTC
Applied. Thanks a lot!
Comment 6 Vaidrius Petrauskas 2003-09-11 19:41:46 UTC
Could you also add next two largest Lithuanian cities? They are:
Ðiauliai EYSA
Panevëþys EYPN
I hope Mozilla and bugzilla will handle symbols with diacritic marks
correctly ("Siauliai" and "Panevezys" in similar to Latin ones)
1st letter of 1st city is "Latin capital letter s with caron"
6th letter of 2nd city is "Latin small letter e with dot above"
4th letter of 2nd city is "Latin small letter z with caron"

Since gnome-applets are gtk2-based, I think Latin letters with
diacritic marks should be allowed.
Comment 7 Kjartan Maraas 2003-10-26 14:44:16 UTC
Would be easier for you to attach a patch here. That way we don't have
to assume bugzilla handles the characters correctly.
Comment 8 Kevin Vandersloot 2003-11-30 20:12:34 UTC
Vaidrius: Could you make a patch for your changes. The way to do this
from a cvs checkout is to make you changes and then in the gweather
directory type "cvs diff -u5 > Lit.patch". Thanks.
Comment 9 Dennis Smit 2004-02-05 23:45:14 UTC
Vaidrius Petrauskas, could you provide a new patch as asked
by kevin, we would be very thankful, seen the string and ui
freeze are nearing.
Comment 10 Frank Solensky 2004-06-27 18:20:25 UTC
ARGH! Attachment to bug #139820 includes a few more Lithuanian cities but I kind
of assumed that it was related to adding cities without actually reading this
bug.  Will resubmit shortly..

Resubmitted: see 2nd attachment
Comment 12 Danielle Madeley 2004-08-14 14:50:53 UTC
This is now in CVS.
