GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 105543
Text-view is ugly
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
When using the Nautilus text-view on a plain-text file, I'm notice two issues: 1) There are no margins, and thus the text rubs right up against the edge of the text-view widget's side. This can make text at the edge hard to read. There should be at *least* a 2-3 pixel margin. (I notice this problem with most apps that use a text view - nobody uses margins...) 2) The font is proportional. A lot of plain-text files make use of the monospace facility for things like underling and such (basic ASCII art, simply), and in proportional fonts they look all garbles. I'll attach a screenshot showing both the lack of margins and the way the proportional font screws up alignment of items.
