There are lots of arguments for this on bug 94612, in the mailing list 
archives and in an article I wrote here:
http://evolvedoo.sourceforge.net/abstract/index.html

But it's still an issue that is going to cause some "disagreement".
Posting this bug so that hopefull we can come to an agreement.

Please continue this discussion in bug 94612, there is no point having
the same discussion in two different bugs.
