Description Spam Bin 2003-01-30 17:02:40 UTC
Here are a few wishlist items. Adding them, or any reasonable subset
thereof, would greatly increase my conveniece when using GnomeICU (which is
otherwise excellent):

1) add a command-line option to start up hidden.
2) Add a hide button or menu command to the main window: it is a great
nuisance to have to go to the applet or the system tray in order to be able
to hide it, after having done something with the main window.
3) Put back the delayed auto-hide feature!!!!

If any of these features is already in and by some disgraceful incometence
I did not manage to notice it myself, my apologies :)

How do you exactly expect to control it if you hide it without having
an applet? Why can't you just minimize it? If we can make hiding easy
in a UI-logical way, I suppose we could bring it back...

I do have an applet (or a systray icon, which is equivalent).
Just that after openin a message window with some contact on the main
windown, I have to go all the way to the applet/systray to hide it
again: it works, but it's an awful nuisance.

It would make sense I suppose to disallow hiding if there is no applet
or systray, but if there is one I still want to be able to hide from
the main menu, or at least to auto-hide!

Same thing applies to starting up hidden: if there's an applet or a
systray, no reason for the window to actually come up, but auto-hiding
would do just as well, if that's too much of a bother (why should it
be though?)
Comment 3 Spam Bin 2003-01-30 17:22:53 UTC
For example, you could add a "hide" command either next to the status
icon in the main window, or even as a part of the main window's status
change popup: hiding is not really a status change, but it's close
enough...

Close to system tray feature
Comment 6 Yuriy Movchan 2003-03-09 18:38:53 UTC
This path add 2 modes of work when user closes main window:
1) close gnomeicu completely;
2) keep gnomeicu running in the system tray.

User have chose to select required mode in preferences dialog (page
"User interface").

I think this patch is very good, why is it not applied in the 0.99 versions?
Comment 8 Olivier Crête 2005-10-16 20:29:52 UTC
the current status will stay, you can hide the main window using a:

gnomeicu-client hide/show
clicking on the tray icon
