Description rael 2003-01-25 03:36:48 UTC
first, the mouse starts going crazy... erratic behavior. then the panel
keeps hiding/unhiding, moving up the left side of the screen, etc... then,
every time i log in i get an "application gnome-panel (process 30646) has
crashed due to a fatal error" dialog box.
this happened to my wife's account when i first installed redhat 8, and the
only way to work around it was to delete her gnome profiles/config files.
then, the next time she logged in, her desktop was back to the default
(post-installation) setup.

Very similar error with my setup. I have been using RH8.0 for some time, completely updated. As I was waiting for GNOME-panel to load, I tried to open another file system whose icon was already on the desktop by double cliking the icon (the panel had not loaded at this point). After that, I get the "gnome-panel has crashed ..." dialog box every time I restart GNOME. If I just close that box (about 12 times) the panel goes away and I can use the destop.
