Description Johannes Rohr 2003-01-23 10:19:53 UTC
Package: gnome-panel
Severity: enhancement
Version: 2.2.0
Synopsis: "run" box doesn't handle gnomvfs URIs
Bugzilla-Product: gnome-panel
Bugzilla-Component: Panel

Description:
Description of Problem:

The "Run" applet doesn't handle gnome-vfs URIs even though handlers for
them are set in /desktop/gnome/url_handlers

The current behaviour is highly inconsistent as only a small subset of
available URIs are supported (http:// and ftp://).

Support either all or none!

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Type <Alt><F2>applications:// RET
2. See what happens (Error message
3. Type <Alt><F2>http://www.gnome.org/ RET
4. See what happens (URI is launched in browser).

Actual Results:

If you enter "applications:///" or "fonts:///", you get an error
message. You have to enter "nautilus applications:///"
The same goes for "mailto:" URIs.

Expected Results:

While the "Run" dialog is able to handle "http://" or "ftp://" URIs
correctly, it should also be able to open other URIs
using the associated application.
How often does this happen?

Fully reproducible.

This is definately the case.
Comment 2 Vincent Untz 2004-03-12 22:36:48 UTC
Seems to be working in latest 2.5.x. Please reopen if you can still
reproduce with gnome-panel >= 2.5.92.
