GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 103061
Can't select a theme if metacity isn't installed
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Hi, I really want to know why metacity is mandatory to select a theme ? Window manager warning: Failed to read theme from file /usr/share/themes/metacity-1/metacity-theme-1.xml: Failed to open file '/usr/share/themes/metacity-1/metacity-theme-1.xml': No such file or directory Christian
I forgot, this is the control center 2.1.6
What were you doing to create the error?
First this bug is critical and should be fixed in 2.2 How to reproduce this bug ? $ LC_ALL=C /usr/bin/gnome-theme-manager (gnome-theme-manager:10947): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "cleanice", (gnome-theme-manager:10948): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "cleanice", Window manager warning: Failed to read theme from file /usr/share/themes/metacity-1/metacity-theme-1.xml: Failed to open file '/usr/share/themes/metacity-1/metacity-theme-1.xml': No such file or directory Or click on the theme icon in the control-center
I agree it should be fixed in 2.2; it is not critical severity, please leave correct bug triaging to the GNOME project. Do you have a directory /usr/share/themes/metacity-1?
No, I don't use metacity. I'm a sawfish user.
Presumably still a problem in 2.2.x?
Yes. gnome-theme-manager needs to lose it's dependency on metacity I guess.
