Description Bart 2002-12-06 21:44:57 UTC
I'm on a rather flaky cable connection where some
sites are difficult to access (i.e. they time out
easily...) in the evenings. The problem with Inbox
Monitor is that when my connection goes bad, the
'Check for mail every...' option disables itself,
rendering the entire applet rather useless. Is
there a reason why 'Check for mail every...' gets
disabled when the e-mail account can't be accessed?

It'd be helpful if there was *some* indication
that the e-mail account is inaccessible, like if
instead of displaying the mail count the text read
'Status Unavailable' or something like that, but
right now I'm constantly needing to go into the
Preferences and re-enable the checking feature
just to keep the applet working (not to mention
needing to OK the dialog box that pops up at the
same time 'Check for...' gets disabled). I'd image
the applet is even less useful for people on
dial-up connections.

So yes, please either don't make the 'Check for
mail every...' option get disable when the mail
server is (*temporarily* in most cases...)
inaccessible or provide an option to make it stay
active.
