GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 100398
0.13.2.91 RPM for RH7.3 segfaults on Mandrake
Last modified: 2006-06-18 05:24:55 UTC
I've previously successfully tried some of the RPMs for RedHat 7.3 on my Mandrake 8.2 and 9.0 boxes. (Pan 0.13.0.92 on Mandrake 8.2 and Pan 0.13.2.90 on Mandrake 9.0, both with spellchecking.) However, the 0.13.2.91 RPM for RH 7.3 segfaults before opening any window, on both Mandrake 8.2 and 9.0. That applies to both the version with spellchecking (i586 and i386) and the one without (only tried i586). Except for the GTK2 RPM naming difference between RedHat and Mandrake, the dependencies are apparently OK. Originally reported to the pan-users mailing list.

What version of Pango do you have installed?
Pango version was 1.0.4. Problem solved after upgrading to 1.0.5. John's Mandrake 8.2 RPM works fine with Pango 1.0.4 on both Mandrake 8.2 and 9.0. Should the RH7.3 RPM have a pango >= 1.0.5 dependency?
agreed, added pango >= 1.0.5 to pan.spec.in: http://cvs.gnome.org/bonsai/cvsview2.cgi?diff_mode=context&whitespace_mode=show&subdir=pan&command=DIFF_FRAMESET&file=pan.spec.in&rev1=1.44&rev2=1.45&root=/cvs/gnome
