Description jacob berkman 2002-06-18 17:41:08 UTC
if i log out of gnome, saving my session, with a bunch of overlapping
windows, then log back in, the z-ordering is not properly restored.

the z-order i get depends on which apps mapped their windows last.

this works correctly in sawfish.

Z-order is restored properly with the 24th june build
Comment 2 Havoc Pennington 2002-07-02 02:57:37 UTC
No way it's restored properly, there isn't any code to do so.
Comment 3 André Klapper 2020-11-07 12:36:05 UTC
bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all
old feature requests in Bugzilla which have not seen updates for many years.

If you still use metacity and if you are still requesting this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/metacity/-/issues/

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry it could not be implemented.
