GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 779826
Paste shortcuts are extremely broken
Last modified: 2018-01-11 04:45:14 UTC
I know that Geary has elected to go with Ctrl+V for paste without formatting by default, as in https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=712847, which I agree with, but the way Geary interacts with the system clipboard appears to be entirely unpredictable. Pressing Ctrl+V within an edit window in Geary often gets me a *prior* clipboard selection, as though this is being stored in memory somehow, and often pastes it without formatting; I have to go through the right-click menu to actually get the real paste. This is under 11.3 on Arch Linux, Gnome 3.22.
Hi Alex, thanks for reporting this issue. It sounds a lot like Bug 730495, where basically WebKit is handling paste if you use the shortcut, but Geary handling paste if you use the context menu. If you're running under X11, then WebKit may be using the X Selection, while Geary is using the X Clipboard. Does that sound about right?
Yup, this is a duplicate.
Okay, thanks for letting me know. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 730495 ***
