Description el 2017-02-20 21:08:43 UTC
The clipboard interaction with XWayland open-source program "keepass" randomly breaks with keepass maintaining a shadow clipboard that doesn't update / isn't in sync with wayland apps.

Sometimes it works fine, but sometimes copying something in keepass won't update the clipboard for any Wayland-native apps (like gnome-terminal) and then pasting in any XWayland app like Firefox stable (official build without Wayland backend enabled) will paste the newly copied password or element from keepass, while pasting in any Wayland-native app like gnome-terminal as shipped GNOME 3 will paste outdated unchanged clipboard contents.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start GNOME 3 Wayland session
2. Install & Open keepass
3. Add at least one password
4. Use right-click copy password
5. Trigger paste in gnome-terminal (which should paste password in plain text)

Expected behavior:
Password is pasted in plain text into gnome-terminal

Actual behavior:
Password is sometimes pasted in plain text, but sometimes it also pastes what was previously in the clipboard (e.g. also nothing)

Comment 1 GNOME Infrastructure Team 2021-07-05 14:46:49 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
