GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 727711
Tile windows horizontally by dragging them to the top or bottom of the screen
Last modified: 2015-02-09 23:35:23 UTC
A nice feature in mutter is the ability to drag a window to the left or right of the screen and it will make that window occupy vertically half of the screen. It would be nice if a similar behaviour was introduced to make windows occupy half of the screen horizontally by dragging them to the top or the bottom of the screen. Currently to drag a window to the top makes it fullscreen, but there is a quicker method to do that: double click on the title bar. And nothing happens if you drag a window to the bottom of the screen, so such a functionality would be very useful.
Or, even better, plus an option for horizontal tiling using a keyboard shortcut configurable on System Settings -> Keyboard - left blank by default, one could set it for their liking.
