GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 687598
Baobab set as default file manager
Last modified: 2014-04-28 05:13:22 UTC
baobab.desktop registers as a MIME handler for inode/directory, with some unfortunate consequences: 1) Download any file in Epiphany and click "Show in Folder" -> folder opens in Baobab instead of in Nautilus 2) Inserting removable media (external hard drive or USB stick) triggers a notification prompt to open in Baobab instead of Nautilus Downstream bug: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/31861 Discussion: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=151907 Problematic commit: http://git.gnome.org/browse/baobab/commit/data/baobab.desktop.in.in?h=gnome-3-6&id=da582288eaa036d7a3ef900b12709bab5ca6cd02
Archlinux should install a list of default MIME handlers, I think.
why this is needed? we never did that for years and everything worked out of the box until now.
We added this so that you could right click on a folder and have "open in baobab". Nautilus is not really offering the choice on folders at the moment, so I am not really attached to it... That said this really seems a distro problem, all the other distros manage just fine and the problem of defining good default mime handlers is a generic one that would come up also with other applications.
