Description cgasmith 2012-03-21 15:11:48 UTC
Under system settings the "do nothing" for removable media is not
working. Case, I'm using an FC16 platform with Gnome 3, to program
usb/sd/cf devices. Once inserted they will pop up a the bottom of
the desktop asking to mount/eject the device. This behavior
interferes with operations to the devices being accessed and
consequently blocks the lower third of the desktop from being
usable. Even when programatically umount /dev/xxx under script the pop up remains

The bug boils down to, under any media insertion or usb attachment for storage
class devices, if the system settins are set to "do-nothing" then DO nothing. No prompts, no mounts into fuse or /media/

Personally, I'd like to see this more granualized, eg ignore a specific device aka cf card reader-ignore, but I'll settle for system wide "do-nothing"

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
