GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 661160
status area shouldn't appear on Activities overview
Last modified: 2011-10-07 09:43:10 UTC
I believe that status area shouldn't appear in Activities overview, since has nothing to do with window management and application launching. As for now, it's just cluttering the interface. If an user wants to interact with status area (which, depending on how apps are modernized, is quickly becoming a notifications-only-area), he or she should point at the opposite screen corner. Thanks, good job
What exactly do you mean by "status area" - in shell-speak, the status area is located at the left of the user menu in the top bar, but from your description I assume that you are referring to the message tray at the bottom of the screen?
well, actually not-that-new apps leave their tray icon at bottom-right corner.. anyway, yes, I'm speaking about the message tray, this black blurred bottom that spins has not much to to do with "activities", isn't it? --- Probably the black blurred stripe all along the bottom of the screen isn't that visually appealing.. messages popups don't need it, just icons on the right.. but they don't need all the the bottom to be darkened. I think that a better cosmetic solution should be investigated, but this is another bug.
OK, then we have a bug for this already. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 636117 ***
ok, actually I searched in bugzilla "status area": no dups ;) thanks
