GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 653068
Allow multiple-language spell-checking
Last modified: 2012-10-07 15:54:22 UTC
Xan just recently blogged about spell-checking coming back in Epiphany: http://blogs.gnome.org/xan/2011/06/18/its-all-in-the-small-things/ In a comment, he said: > "To everyone commenting about spellchecking features: yeah, we likely need a few more things built-in by default, others perhaps as extensions. Let’s start opening bugs and (ideally!) sending patches" So here is the bug report (without patch unfortunately :( ) If the screenshot is accurate, Epiphany doesn't handle multiple languages very well: http://blogs.gnome.org/xan/files/2011/06/twitter2.png Nowadays, more and more people write in at least two languages on the Internet: their own language, and English. So it seems very important to check spelling in multiple languages. One possibility which works nicely is to present it like Evolution does: http://bochecha.fedorapeople.org/tmp/evolution_spell_checking.png Spelling would be checked in all enabled languages, and suggestions grouped by language as shown on the screenshot above. There are probably other ways to o it, but this one would at least be consistent with another Gnome software (and might even deserve its own Gtk widget perhaps?)
Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 595279 ***
