GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 645933
Please review strings for translation
Last modified: 2011-08-23 14:49:26 UTC
Please review these strings for translation. No idea what this means and if this will be completed with something. It seems like a mistake: ../panels/universal-access/uap.ui.h:11 "Beep when a key is" There are many instances of wrapping with newlines, like this one: ../panels/user-accounts/um-user-panel.c:866 To make changes, click the * icon first What is the significance of the wrapping? What is the translator's responsibility? It is far, far preferable to have GTK+ handle wrapping if at all possible. There are some trailing spaces in some strings. Are they significant or important? Please comment on the importance at the string, or strip any trailing space. Here are some examples: ../panels/user-accounts/data/account-fingerprint.ui.h:7 "Other finger: " ../panels/sound/gvc-mixer-dialog.c:1763 "_Output volume: " ../panels/sound/gvc-mixer-dialog.c:1784 "_Alert volume: " ../panels/sound/gvc-mixer-dialog.c:1847 "_Input volume: "
This from the developer guidelines might be useful with regard to the wrapping: http://live.gnome.org/TranslationProject/DevGuidelines/Avoid%20hard-coded%20line%20breaks
Please also provide some help with this string: ../panels/printers/printers.ui.h:1 "---" It badly needs comments or to just be removed.
It would really be appreciated if you could split those up in _per panel_ bugs.
Ok, I cloned the bug for each of the affected panels: bug 657167, bug 657168, bug 657169. I'm closing this one, trusting that the others will get the attention that this needs.
