Description Jean-François Fortin Tam 2010-12-06 00:19:33 UTC
This is something I've been seeing for years. There seems to be some kind of weird logic going on where gnome-appearance-properties silently purges any wallpapers I added to it.

I often add wallpapers by drag and drop, sometimes with the Add button.

I couldn't figure out why they usually disappear after a while, leaving only the "active" (currently used) wallpaper + the system-wide-installed wallpapers ; even if my actual wallpaper files in Images/wallpapers haven't changed at all!

I just tested this again with 2.32 to make sure: added a bunch of wallpapers to gnome-appearance-properties on december 5th. They were still there yesterday and the days before, but now (december 9th), they have disappeared; all the wallpapers except
- the currently used one
- the ones that are installed systemwide (ubuntu's wallpapers)

So, every 3-4 days, wallpapers get purged.

Did you by any chance open the appearance panel, and not go to the backgrounds page? (bug 634156)

Indeed.
