GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 622133
Previews in the file chooser by default
Last modified: 2014-11-23 03:44:08 UTC
Since GNOME 2.22 filechooser is able to display a thumbnail to help selecting a picture. It would be nice to be able to display a preview of any media (sound, video). Note that Brasero already has a media previewer and PiTiVi is developping something similar (see http://jeff.ecchi.ca/blog/2010/06/17/previewer-in-the-file-chooser/ & https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=586003 )
GTK+ cannot handle 'any media'. The file chooser provides a general framework for adding previews, that is about the best we can do.
Is this bug still relevant?
I'd say this should be bug 141154 For Pitivi, our UI kinda sucks (see bug #650806), I'll file a new bug in GTK requesting for a way to have a vertical orientation for the preview pane instead. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 141154 ***
