GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 614397
gnome-screensaver doesn't reset fade
Last modified: 2014-08-19 21:13:46 UTC
version: 2.29.92-0ubuntu1 problem: gnome-screensaver doesn't seem to reset fade properly. The output from test-fade says it does: $ src/test-fade ** Message: XFree86-VidModeExtension version 2.2 [gs_debug_init] gs-debug.c:106 (22:27:22): Debugging enabled [gs_fade_init] gs-fade.c:885 (22:27:23): Fade type: 3 fading out...done. fading in...[gs_fade_reset] gs-fade.c:830 (22:27:24): Resetting fade done. fading out...done. fading in...[gs_fade_reset] gs-fade.c:830 (22:27:27): Resetting fade done. [gs_debug_shutdown] gs-debug.c:115 (22:27:29): Shutting down debugging but I'm left with the black screen (only mouse cursor is visible) and I have to reset gamma blindly using xrandr --output LVDS-1 --gamma 1:1:1
gnome-screensaver is obsolete, and this particular bug has been fixed in gnome-shell itself, with the fade out being done through a black window's opacity changing until completely black, at which point the screen is turned off (this means that the gamma isn't touched, so we don't have to reset it).
