Logitech E3500: Webcam display area is blank
Last modified: 2009-01-30 21:58:15 UTC
Please describe the problem: Hi! I have a logitech E3500. It works in skype. When I open cheese, the little gnome "foot" loading icon appears where the webcam output would normally go for a couple of seconds, the light on my webcam turns on, the foot goes away and I'm left with nothing. Just a big grey space where the image should be displayed. Note that the image isn't BLACK, there's simply no image at all, just the GTK grey area. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open cheese 2. Wait Actual results: Webcam image doesn't appear, just stays grey Expected results: Webcam image appears Does this happen every time? Yep Other information: dmesg: [382239.781601] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device <unnamed> (046d:09a4) [382239.795071] input: UVC Camera (046d:09a4) as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:0b.1/usb2/2-2/2-2:1.0/input/input7 [382239.820179] usbcore: registered new interface driver snd-usb-audio [382239.820577] usbcore: registered new interface driver uvcvideo [382239.820712] USB Video Class driver (v0.1.0) lsusb is: Bus 002 Device 005: ID 046d:09a4 Logitech, Inc.
Which system are you using? Probably Ubuntu 8.10 or something which was released around that time (october 08). We've had a lot of this reports already but no matter what has been: Thanks for reporting this issue! Please read how the issue has been fixed at the original (the first) bug report.
