Description Luca Ferretti 2008-11-21 20:47:12 UTC
We should provide "user-online" named icon.

This is a high priority task now that Empathy IM client is officially in GNOME
Desktop.

However, please take a look at this[1] bug against icon naming utils, asking to rename this icon as "user-available".

status-online proposed icons

I created a user-online (or user-available[1]) icon based on Lapo's test[2].

Isn't this green too bright?
Comment 3 Vinicius Depizzol 2008-12-11 20:53:43 UTC
Is it? In my monitor, it looks ok. I'll try in some other screen.
Comment 4 Jakub 'Livio' Rusinek 2008-12-11 20:58:08 UTC
On my screen is it much brighter than, for example, Pidgin's "online" icon.

I think, too much.

Yes, it was really brighter. Better?
Comment 6 Jakub 'Livio' Rusinek 2008-12-11 22:05:01 UTC
Much better.

Thank you :) !
Comment 7 Vinicius Depizzol 2009-01-24 03:05:30 UTC
While I think this proposal I send based on lapo's metaphors isn't bad at all and might work right, I'm not sure if it is the best option. Considering also that others status icons must be done, the drawings needs to have a minimum of similarity.

So, seems that more discussion is needed to fix this bug.

Is this work stuck?
Can you provide a tarball with all the status icons you designed?

Current icon preview

I changed idea once again (well after some testing of the various options we had - yes I did several icons regarding user statusses never published 'cause not convincing for me), anyway new user status icons are in g-i-t trunk, preview here.
Comment 10 Nicolò Chieffo 2009-05-30 07:37:29 UTC
They are really beautiful, my compliments!

Does empathy need a patch now?

Not master but one-canvas, so they won't make it into GNOME 2.28 bit 2.30/3.0 most likely.
Comment 12 Guillaume Desmottes 2009-11-19 16:07:31 UTC
Any chance to have these icons merged to master for 2.30? We'd like to use them in Empathy (bug #602420).
