GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 557441
rhythmbox doesn't store compilations in a single directory
Last modified: 2008-10-22 16:20:15 UTC
When rhythmbox rips compilation CDs each track is stored under its respective artist, which results in lots of directories with a single song. This is messy and hard to manage. This was reported on launchpad at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/285166
Possibly helpful post from Ted on the launchpad report. "What happens if you change the "Library Structure" item in the configuration? I believe by default when ripping CD's, it stores in the hierarchy Artist/Album, but you can change that by going to Edit>Preferences, then the 'Music' tab. You could change it to store by album. The issue here really is that Rhythmbox has no way to tell if the CD it's ripping is an album or a mix without the user telling it."
