Description Magnus Falk 2007-05-08 21:33:01 UTC
When I use acrobat I most often read in the dual mode and turn pages with the mouse wheel. In evince I can only turn pages with the space bar in this mode.

Are you using continuous mode?

No, I like to read the PDF one spread at the time. When using continuous mode though, scrolling works fine. I would like it to work exactly like it does when I press space in non-continuous facing mode with the added possibility to go backwards as well (all with the mouse wheel).

Basically the same way it works in acrobat.

I see, thanks for the bug report

Turn pages with the mouse wheel when no continuous is set

Is this ok ?
Simply works the same way that the presentation mode when is no set continuous.

Well, from what I can tell it looks good. Thanks for the quick fix!

I just stumbled over this issue with evince 2.21.90 (from ubuntu hardy).

Is there a chance to get this applied/fixed for 2.22 or are there technical issues? Being able to scroll using the mousewheel sounds like a big usabiliy win for me (I use it all the time in kpdf).

Comment 7 Pascal Terjan 2008-03-11 09:26:44 UTC
Yes I miss this a lot too
Comment 8 Michael Chudobiak 2008-11-27 20:03:50 UTC
The above patch disables scrolling, which isn't good. It makes the wheel act as a page-flipper only.

It would be better to scroll, and flip the page when the page edge is met.

I have proposed a patch in bug 562257 to do that.

This bug has been dormant for a long time. Is it still a valid bug?
Comment 10 Magnus Falk 2011-08-22 21:19:31 UTC
No, with the fix that Mike suggests, then I'm happy. This one can be closed.

Cheers,
Magnus

Mouse wheel turns pages when in non-continuous mode and "Fit Page" (new "Best Fit").

For other cases, when there is scrolling within a page the rationale on why this
cannot be implemented is explained in Bug 168449.

So, this bug is actually a duplicate of Bug 562257 (a newer one, although
with a better patch).
