I might be wrong, but I believe it's because the gnome-fs-bookmark was not updated.

tangoified icon in tango style

So how about naming this properly?
Comment 4 javiermon 2007-02-20 14:17:22 UTC
thanks!
Comment 5 Vincent Untz 2007-02-20 14:22:04 UTC
I can update nautilus and gnome-panel for a new icon name, if necessary.

Rodney, does web-link in the mimetypes context sound right?
Comment 7 Rodney Dawes 2007-02-20 16:50:28 UTC
I don't really think we should have this icon. Why not just use the icon for the MIME type of the file linked to? In other words, when the MIME type is looked up to see whether or not a .desktop should be created to link to it, why not set Icon=text-html or whatever? And then for any .desktop files of type "Link", why not add the emblem-symbolic-link emblem to it? I think this would make for better presentation, rather than Yet Another Globe.
Comment 8 Jakub Steiner 2007-02-20 18:10:10 UTC
Actually that sounds like the right thing to do, indeed.
Comment 9 javiermon 2008-07-06 16:21:49 UTC
Any news on this?

It is also worth mentioning that drag & dropping from Firefox to GNOME panel creates another icon (applications-internet). This is a bit inconsistent. Also some theme (e.g. "Humanity" from Ubuntu) have a specific icon for gnome-fs-bookmark (e.g. a star).

It'd be nice to see some progress on this.
Comment 12 Lapo Calamandrei 2012-10-11 14:27:00 UTC
We won't add an icon for .desktop file or gnome-fs-bookmark (which is deprecated tho), the link overlay approach is the right thing to do. Closing.
