GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 398874
Better error message when executable isn't installed
Last modified: 2020-11-11 19:13:40 UTC
This is Debian bug 223019 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=223019 The "Archive type not supported" message a user is shown when a certain executable , like unrar, isn't installed could be expanded on. Preferably it should explain that the user need to install additional software packages to gain this functionality. I'm not sure what would be good wording, but maybe something like "To extract this file you need the unrar program installed".
bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all old bug reports and feature requests in GNOME Bugzilla which have not seen updates for a long time. If you still use file-roller and if you still see this bug / want this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/file-roller/-/issues/ Thank you for creating this report and we are sorry it could not be implemented (volunteer workforce and time is limited).
