GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 351470
Merge bookmark topics by keyboard
Last modified: 2016-10-07 21:27:17 UTC
There should be a way to merge bookmark topics. This is especially needed after importing bookmarks from another browser like Firefox. Currently I have topics created from Firefox bookmark folder names, named for example 'Docs', 'docs', 'documentation', 'doc', etc. which essentially all have the same meaning. Of course I can edit those bookmarks one by one, removing and adding topics, but that way it will take me at least some weeks to get all my bookmarks properly categorized... One possible (but not the only) way to implement merging topics in de UI is by renaming topics giving them the same name as another topic, which would also be a solution for bug #109343 at the same time. ;-)
If you go to the properties for a bookmark you will see a button that says "n Similar". Pressing it offers you to merge with similar bookmarks. Have you tried this?
I think he means merge entire topics together.
Ah, sorry, misunderstood...
Yes, I mean entire topics, some of them having > 100 bookmarks in them, which makes manually changing topics one bookmark at a time a bit painful... :)
Note that you can drag all the bookmarks to the topic and they will be added there.
Okay, draging & dropping the bookmarks & then deleting the not-needed-anymore topic seems to work (but not without a mouse?).
Hi, the bookmarks code has been rewritten from scratch. When you have a convenient opportunity to test the new version of the code (which will be present in Epiphany 3.23.1) please check to see if your issue is still a problem, and reply here. Thanks!
Hi, this is a mass close of all bugs in the NEEDINFO state. If you think this bug was closed improperly, just leave a comment, thanks!
