GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 349422
Freezes when entering a Web Gallery with the same name as an existing one
Last modified: 2008-06-04 17:21:29 UTC
Steps to reproduce: 1. Set up a Web Gallery connection 2. Set up another Web Gallery connection with the same name 3. Result: Application hangs and must be killed Stack trace: Other information:
with the latest CVS, f-spot no longer hangs and ends up with 2 galleries with the same name. This should be disallowed.
The current incarnation of this bug is minor then.
Eira, Can you still reproduce this with anything newer than f-spot 0.3.0 ??
My distro (FC6) doesn't have 0.3 in the repos yet, but I just tested it with 0.2.1, and the freeze is gone. It still (in 0.2.1) creates two galleries with identical names.
The duplicate naming issue is still present in 0.4.3.1. Should the bug be reopened or should the duplicate naming issue be reported separately? When re-testing this I found a new crash bug, will report separately.
Created attachment 112030 [details] GalleryExport.dll could you try the attached extension? it's version 0.4.4.2, you must copy it in ~/.gnome2/f-spot/addins/ once in f-spot, go to extension manager, you will find this one and the old one. please disable the previous version and retry export.
Hmm. I put the file in ~/.gnome2/f-spot/addins/ and made it executable just in case (dunno if that's needed). I did find two Gallery extensions in the manager, and disabled the older one, but the newer one was labelled 0.4.4.1 and not 2. In any case, it didn't make any difference. I was still allowed to create two identically named galleries.
the problem is the freeze or the creation? did it freeze?
As discussed in the comments, the freeze has been gone for quite some time. The remaining problem is that the user is allowed to create multiple identically named gallery connections, which is a minor issue.
I decided to report this remaining minor issue as http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=536661 to avoid confusion. The crash as described in this bug report is fixed.
