GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 536661
Creation of identically named Gallery export connections should be disallowed
Last modified: 2008-06-05 08:42:18 UTC
Please describe the problem: You can set up several connections to export to Gallery. Nothing prevents the user from entering the same name for multiple connections. This leads to confusion when trying to pick the correct connection afterwards (even if it only is to delete the wrong one) Steps to reproduce: 1. Set up a Web Gallery connection 2. Set up another Web Gallery connection with the same name Actual results: Both connections are created, and you end up with two identical entries in the list, without knowing which is which Expected results: A warning saying that this name is already in use, asking the user to pick another name Does this happen every time? Yes Other information:
i'm sorry this can't be considered a bug. gallery names are a user choice.
Users are unlikely to enter identical names because they want it that way. In 99% of cases it would be a mistake, and f-spot should help users avoid annoying and confusing mistakes, IMHO.
Btw, the reason why I opened this bug was this comment from bug 349422: Comment #1 from Stephane Delcroix (points: 20) 2006-07-31 13:50 UTC [reply] with the latest CVS, f-spot no longer hangs and ends up with 2 galleries with the same name. This should be disallowed.
looks like we regressed fixed again in r4044, the new GalleryExtension for 0.4.4 is being uploaded to the repository
