In Abiword you have the options for correcting misspelled words available immediatly from the right-click context menu.

In Evolution, You have to right-click a misspelled word, then choose "Check Word Spelling..." from the right-click context menu, then you get a new window, there you choose the correct spelling (even worse is that you might need to scroll because not all the correct spelling options are visible in the window at once), then you press replace.

Obviously correcting the spelling of a word in Evolution requires a lot more work and time than in Abiword or any other word processor with a similar method. My suggestion is that Evolution simply copies the the method to correct the word spelling from Abiword.

this is already fixed in the unstable evolution development version 2.7.x and will be fixed in the upcoming stable 2.8 release.

Ok, thank you. Sorry for filing a duplicate bug, I only searched for bugs in Evolution, not GTKhtml
