GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 336278
Can't retrieve messages from Exchange server with percent sign in subject
Last modified: 2006-05-09 10:59:10 UTC
Please describe the problem: If a message has a percent sign (%) in the subject, Evolution fails to retrieve it. A dialog pops up saying "Error while Retrieving message 00000093c4d8. Error retrieving message." The message shows up in the list of messages, but can't be viewed. Steps to reproduce: 1. Receive message sent to Exchange account containing percent sign 2. Attempt to view it 3. Actual results: An error message is displayed Expected results: The email body should be displayed Does this happen every time? Yes Other information: Fedora Core 4 evolution-webcal-2.2.0-1 evolution-connector-2.2.2-5 evolution-2.2.3-2.fc4 evolution-data-server-1.2.3-3.fc4
This is really a problem with Outlook Web Access. Microsoft's take on it can be found here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;320240 Evolution doesn't deal with it well when moving messages from the Exchange server to a local folder. If, for example, your quota on the server has been exceeded and you need to move a few months worth of messages to a local folder, the move process will die when a message containing a percent sign in the subject is encountered.
seems to be a connector/evolution exchange bug.
We need to look at both % and & signs.
We need to look at % & .. / \ : ./ and so many other characters. I am sure some more duplicates of this bug exists.
