Description Nico Kaiser 2006-01-03 11:26:16 UTC
Steps to reproduce:
1. Move your music library to an NFS share
2. Start up Rhythmbox

Stack trace:

Other information:
Rhythmbox tries to stat all files on startup. This is slow like hell when the
library is mouted via NFS, RB takes some minutes to start and looks as if it
crashed during this time.
Why can't this happen in the backgroupd when Rhythbox is running?
Comment 1 Nico Kaiser 2006-01-03 15:38:52 UTC
By the way: Rhythmbox 0.9.1 (and I think also 0.9.2) was much faster.
Comment 2 Jonathan Matthew 2006-01-03 21:54:36 UTC
The change was deliberate, and there's a good reason for it - it allows use of remote filesystems that require authentication. We are trying to make startup more responsive, and it would be appreciated if you could test the possible solutions we come up with.
