Description john bray 2005-09-21 02:39:14 UTC
Distribution/Version: FC4

i opened a pdf file from evolution. most of the text is garbage. i opened the
same file in xpdf, kpdf, and kghostview. in all of these three, it displays
proper text.

i have both the offending pdf and a screenshot of what is displayed, which i can
email if you'd like. don't know how to attach them herein.

this is the pdf which causes the problem shown in the screen shot. it was
likely generated on an apple box.

This PDF renders fine for me on evince 0.4.0/poppler 0.4.2 (cairo)

Here's what the text says at the top

so. did you look at the screen shot i attached? i can see that text. but all
the rest of it is unintelligible -- only in evince, not xpdf, et. al.

FC4 rpms poppler and evince.
Comment 7 Brent Smith (smitten) 2005-10-01 15:59:51 UTC
yeah I did look at the screenshot, I don't know why I pasted that text, I can
see all the other text as well.
Comment 8 Olivier Le Thanh Duong 2005-10-31 02:24:38 UTC
This is probably a dup of bug 316620.
John, is it possible for you to update your version of poppler and see if this
bug still happen?
Comment 9 agilmore 2005-12-27 16:44:10 UTC
I had problems with this pdf, using poppler 0.4.1. I updated to 0.4.3 and the problem no longer occurred.

Thanks a lot for testing again :)

Let everyone feel free to reopen if problem still appears, but I am closing
now.
