The use of [Name] and =Name= to display minimized and shaded windows is both
ugly and non-obvious.

Shaded icons are more than adequate to indicate that the window isn't currently
visible.

Another vote for no brackets; same as bug 155876 which is yet another
dup/extension of bug 91655...

I think I'm in favor of this proposal (especially since the trailing bracket is
often cut off by the ellipsizing), but if we change behavior in libwnck then we
also need to change Metacity at the same time (the alt-tab popup uses the same
methods as libwnck for displaying windows).  If you can convince Havoc to take
the change in Metacity, and the usability people don't object, I think this
patch would be fine.

I'm going to mark as a duplicate but make note of the patch...
