Description aweber 2005-03-21 22:24:15 UTC
Distribution: Novell Linux Desktop 9 (i586)
Package: Evolution
Priority: Normal
Version: GNOME2.6. unspecified
Gnome-Distributor: Novell, Inc.
Synopsis: POP accounts all go to one Inbox
Bugzilla-Product: Evolution
Bugzilla-Component: Mailer
Bugzilla-Version: unspecified
Description:
Each IMAP account gets its own tree- why do POP accounts all go to one
place? This is confusing and wrong, and it confuses users to have all
their mail from different accounts mixed together willy-nilly.

Each POP account should have its own level in the mail display just like
IMAP accounts.

This bug either had no qa contact or an invalid one.

Also note this was a customer complaint from Brainshare. I told them
they could use filters to sort the mail by account, and they laughed
at me and rolled their eyes.

good on them

not going to be changed
Comment 3 aaron 2005-05-19 18:08:27 UTC
Is there a reason, or is it just not worth the effort? Obviously it's a
low-priority feature request, but it *would* make sense to have each account get
its own tree, no matter what protocol it uses.
Comment 4 André Klapper 2005-08-23 19:15:26 UTC
yes, so opening this as the "i know that from thunderbird" request i can always
link people on the mailing lists to... ;-)

there *are* requests on the mailing lists.
Comment 5 Matthew Barnes 2009-05-24 02:37:51 UTC
It would make sense to let users pick a custom Inbox folder for POP accounts just like we allow picking custom Drafts and Sent folders. On This Computer / Inbox is still a reasonable default.

Comment 10 André Klapper 2021-05-19 11:31:39 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new enhancement request ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
