Description Stanislav Brabec 2004-08-23 14:56:24 UTC
It would be nice, if Evolution will generate and use Accept-Languages
header in following circumstances:

1) Generate it in outgoing mails, based on preferences or environment
variables LANGUAGE, LC_MESSAGES, LANG.
2) Use texts "xxx wrote:", "redirected message" etc. in language, which
recipient can read.
3) Accept this header as item in addressbook.
4) Optionally be able to use signatures in different languages.
5) Optionally limit spellchecking to these languages.
6) If there is no evidence of recipient language, let user have a chance to
select a language for 2).

If only 6) will be implemented, it will be a big benefit for non-English
users often writing English.

6) is bug 210577.
Comment 2 André Klapper 2021-05-19 11:33:57 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new enhancement request ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
