Description Chris Toshok 2003-04-04 01:26:23 UTC
This is a blanket bug for all vCard 3.0 issues.
Comment 1 Norman Petry 2003-07-09 06:06:09 UTC
I was going to post a bug about this, but instead I'll just add a
comment here:

I noticed that Evo's vCard export doesn't create cards that conform to
RFC 2426. Specifically, type parameters are often missing the "TYPE="
prefix, e.g. the EMAIL items are written like

EMAIL;INTERNET:john_doe@ximian.com

but RFC 2426 requires:

EMAIL;TYPE=INTERNET:john_doe@ximian.com

The former is allowed by the 2.1 spec, which includes a list of "known
types" that don't require TYPE= to be explicitly shown.

The best interoperability will probably be achieved if Evo is strict
about vCard export, and permissive about import. Where the 3.0 (RFC
2426) spec is tighter than 2.1 (as in this case), it should probably
be used for export & internal formatting when Evo is upgraded to
support vCard 3.0.

at least retargetting from 2.2 to 2.5
Comment 10 André Klapper 2021-05-19 11:12:55 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new enhancement request ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
