In many folders, the last message will be the selected one.  When the
folder gets new mail and is revisited or refreshed, the new messages will
not be displayed in the message scan window because the selected message
line (and formerly the last one) will still be at the absolute bottom. 
Seeing the new message lines requires clicking on the (small) scrollbar,
and thus it is a pain to browse various folders each of which has a few new
messages.

     One possible solution is to make sure the selected message line is
centered when a folder is revisited or refreshed.  Then the first few new
messages after it will also be visible.

this is an etable bug afaik (since the mailer has no control over
positioning)

i'm pretty sure that this is the same bug as bug 255303.
