need an easier way to add multiple contacts to categories

Package: Evolution Priority: Wishlist Version: 1.0.0.99 Synopsis: need an easier way to add multiple contacts to catagories Bugzilla-Product: Evolution Bugzilla-Component: Contacts [was: Addressbook] Description: need a quick block and drag type mechanism to add multiple contacts to different catagories. --mk Unknown reporter: mkrisch@yahoo.com.au, changed to bugbuddy-import@ximian.com.
Yep, I think this feature is very helpful for us to utilize the categories. Otherwise I can only set the category properties in each card editor dialog box one by one, it is a little boring.
would be nice indeed.
Apologies for any spam... cc'ing usability-maint on all Evolution usability bugs. Filter on EVO-USABILITY-SPAM to ignore.
One more option could be select contacts and add a category to all of them. (may be a right click context menu option).
Another vote. Seems to be taking awhile to get this included. It is, however, very important to make categories at all useful -- if you want to be able to add new categories at a later time or remove categories from an existing set of contacts, having to select each contact individually drastically reduces the usefulness of categories... Any chance a target version could be chosen? Is there something holding this bug up, or simply lack of interest? Any input from the developers in this area would be helpful.
Bumping version to a stable release.

Also see bug 548610, bug 217097 and bug 557713. Fixing one would fix them all I guess.
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new enhancement request ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
