Description Frederic Parrenin 2004-09-10 16:19:56 UTC
steps to reproduce:
- open the .xls file in gnumeric
- save it
- open it in XL2k
=> an error message appears in XL saying: "error: data loss risk".
The file seems to be imported correctly except the legend in the graph.

Comment 2 Jody Goldberg 2004-09-16 04:58:26 UTC
XL seems to have an undocumented limitation.
I can't seem to set the name of a series to be a non-trivial expression

eg "foo" is ok as a constant =ref is ok
but I keep getting a parse error for
="foo"&"bar"

I'll try to to dumb things down on export if necessary.
Comment 3 Jon Kåre Hellan 2005-07-08 19:35:22 UTC
No error message in Norwegian version of Excel 2000 (9.0.2812) when current HEAD
gnumeric has read and written the file.
Comment 4 Frederic Parrenin 2005-07-11 12:37:14 UTC
Indeed, I don't see any error message when opening and saving the file with
gnumeric-1.5.2.
However, I see another error in the conversion: there are additional quotes
around series names in XL, that are not present in gnumeric.
I am changing the bug title accordingly.

Setting priorit to normal
Comment 6 Jody Goldberg 2005-07-30 03:42:53 UTC
The extra quotes aren't too hard to fix.
We were being simplistic about exporting expressions which contained only a
string and quoting it.
