Description Keith Lea 2004-08-28 00:25:26 UTC
When I try to delete a file which is on another filesystem than my home folder,
I get a dialog that looks like this:

** Error While Deleting **
* Error "Not on same file system" while deleting /root-temp/k3bCdCopy1".
* Would you like to continue?
* [ Skip ] [ Cancel ] [ Retry ]
****

There are many problems with this dialog; this bug report addresses only one
problem.

When the error is "not on the same file system," the user should not be given
the chance to "Retry." There is no way that retrying would work; if two things
are on different file systems, those files will never be on the same file system.
Comment 1 Keith Lea 2004-08-28 00:28:38 UTC
I forgot to say, the user should not be given the chance to Skip the files
either, since the deletion of those files are obviously going to be skipped,
since Nautilus says they cannot be deleted. I suggest the dialog simply have an
"Okay" button and give the user no choices, since the user has no choices except
to open a console or Konqueror, to delete the files.

do you still get this issue ? With version of nautilus are you using ?
Comment 4 Keith Lea 2005-02-25 00:37:55 UTC
Yes, this is still relevant. Nautilus still gives you silly options when
deleting files, like "Skip" when you're only deleting one file, and "Retry" when
there's no way a retry would work.

The same problem as bug 309592 but much more discussion there. Let me mark this
as duplicate.
