Description Power PC 2004-07-20 11:11:44 UTC
Description of Problem:

I am logged into a normal user account and I want
to copy/paste/delete files using nautilus which
are not under my permission. I get a permission
denied alert. What I'd like to happen is that is I
should get a password dialog, just as when you run
a program with root privileges. I have to use
command line interface for this which is rather
uncomfortable.

Steps to reproduce the problem:

1. Login as normal user

2. Copy/Cut a file from home directory

2. Navigate to let's say

/usr/lib/mozilla/searchplugins and PASTE.

Actual Results:

permission denied ! At this moment you need the
CLI for copy/paste or you've to type: sudo
nautilus. This doesn't make sense!

Expected Results:

What I'd like to happen is that when you click
'paste' (or whatever) you get a password dialog,
just as when you run a program with root privileges.

How often does this happen?

Always

Additional Information:

Looks like a neat feature to me. BTW: As far as I
know none of the filemanager has this feature, weird.
