GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 98510
i18n bug in stock menu items: Widgets get translated names
Last modified: 2011-02-25 05:20:39 UTC
If you start glade in a non-C locale (LANG=nn_NO in my case) and then create a menubar, and insert some stock items, the names of those stock items will be translated. That they're translated in the list is ok, but the item names in the widget list, as well as the autogenerated handler names are partly translated (i.e. the standard nontranslated pre- and postfixes are attached to the translated widget name). For example, "Save as" is "Lagra som" in nynorsk, and the widget gets calles "lagra_som1" and the handler becomes "on_lagra_som1_activate".
I'm not sure what to do here. Some users may want the items to use their native language, and some may just want the Glade interface translated, but the widget names and code to be in English.

When people want the app gettextized, strings in sources codes should be in English. Otherwise, native language can be in source codes.

Glade 2, and in general code generation, is now deprecated, so this should be closed as INVALID.
glade-legacy development has been stalled and it has been unmaintained for a few years now. Maintainers don't have future development plan so i am closing the bugs as WONTFIX. Please feel free to reopen the bugs in future if anyone takes the responsibility for active development.
