at starting up gnome the panel crashed and I received this message:  application panel (process 2666) has crashed due to a fatal error.

Were do I go to get a patch to fix this problem?

Nowhere. We still haven't found the cause of the crash. We know what's
happening, but still nobody has had time/knowledge to come up with a
fix. Look at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59500 towards
the end for a description of the problem that was sent to the lists a
while back also. Thanks.
