Thanks! I've pushed your patch to current master.

My only real concern with doing this is that it seems extremely likely that we (by which I mean "I") will almost certainly reintroduce non-typographically-correct usages out of habit. Do you happen to know whether other projects have figured out some kind of testing to ensure that this situation doesn't arise?

I don’t think anyone figured out any automation yet. I agree that it would be nice to have something. For now, I act as a self-appointed fixer of typography, so don’t worry about it. :)
