GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 767229
Selecting a new icon to a folder/file freezes the application
Last modified: 2016-08-09 16:50:39 UTC
Every time I try to choose a icon to a folder, through the properties window, Nautilus freezes right after the "select custom icon" dialog opens.

(In reply to Ernestas Kulik from comment #1) > https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=753394#c1 > > Could this be any related to the issue in that comment? Yes, it's the same problem.
This has been fixed in master[1], but due to how it was originally reported, I can’t really mark this bug as a duplicate. [1] https://git.gnome.org/browse/nautilus/commit/?id=6df5972

Can this be backported in the gnome 3.20 branch?

Is it correct that there are no plans for a 3.20.3 release? The issue is still present in Nautilus 3.20.2 (up-to-date Fedora 24 stack, GNOME Wayland) - seems that the patch was just too late for that release. For a workaround in the meantime for anyone looking, see https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=753394#c10
(In reply to Stephen from comment #8) > seems that the patch was just too late for that release. What are you talking about? The original fix has been pushed and is present in 3.20.2. I will take a look at how it behaves in Wayland.
Works for me.
The patch is not present in the tarball at https://download.gnome.org/sources/nautilus/3.20/nautilus-3.20.2.tar.xz So what are *you* talking about? ;)

(In reply to Stephen from comment #8) > Is it correct that there are no plans for a 3.20.3 release? A couple of fixes have been backported, so that cannot be correct. Sorry for the ruckus.
No worries, hehe. Re. 3.20.3, I was going by https://mail.gnome.org/archives/devel-announce-list/2016-May/msg00001.html but of course plans can change.
As Ernestas pointed out, the tarball of 3.20.2 is somehow wrong. A 3.20.2.1 tarball will come soon.
